ASP also allows Automatic state management for controls on a Web page(called server controls) so that they behave much more like Windows controls .

Silverlight offers cross-domain support for applications. The Silverlight plugin is just a 1MB download which downloads seamlessly and is supported in windows XP and above. Silverlight also supports asynchronous calls.

Web pagesusually require several applications to function. This can make them seem like a cumbersome operation where users haveto wait for the separate applications to refresh before interacting with the complete page. Using AJAX techniques decreases this user delay, and also decreases bandwidth use.
